I ride a lot of Mt Bikes. It’s one of my favorite things! When you’re on a mountain bike there are a number of fundamentals that dictate the success of every ride, but possibly the most important is the principle of focus. You cannot ride a mountain bike successfully without focus. You have to keep your eyes on the road. You must think hard about your technique. You absolutely have to pay attention to each and every curve. Lose focus and you crash. That’s a fact.
The same is true in life, in business, in relationships etc … lose focus and your crash!
Need help focusing? Try these simple rules …
  1. Limit your daily activities. You will struggle with focus if you’re pulled in too many directions.
  2. Take focus breaks throughout your day. Build into your daily calendar moments where you literally say out loud … “focus.” The practice of stoping and saying the word focus out loud will help keep your mind on task.
  3. Set achievable goals. Too many times our goals are bigger than our ability to meet them. Be honest with yourself and build goals into your life that you can accomplish. Start tasks you can finish.
  4. Don’t do life alone. Set goals with friends. Try things together. Ride the trail in a group!
